Trims and Powertrains
Audi offers the 2023 S5 Sportback in three trims: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. All versions come with a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine making 349 horsepower and managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. Audi quattro all-wheel drive is standard across the lineup. The EPA has estimated this model’s fuel economy at 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
Standard Features and Major Options
The 2023 S5 Sportback Premium has numerous exterior features worth noting, including a power panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, a sport-tuned suspension, LED exterior lighting with headlight washers, heated power side mirrors, quad exhaust tips, and 19-inch wheels. Summer tires are standard, but all-season tires are a no-cost option. This trim also gets leather and microsuede upholstery, heated front seats with a massage feature, tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, LED cabin lighting, a 7-inch driver information display, a 40/20/20-split folding rear seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The optional Premium Convenience Package adds a heated steering wheel, proximity keyless entry, a driver’s position memory system, auto-dimming side mirrors, a motion-sensitive alarm system, and additional driver aids and infotainment technology (detailed below). The Premium Plus includes everything from the Premium with the Convenience Package and heated power side mirrors with power-fold, a leatherette-covered center console and door armrests, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Only the Prestige gets enhanced LED headlights, a head-up display, headlight and taillight animation, expanded cabin lighting, and heated rear outboard seats. The Premium Plus and Prestige can be upgraded with some nice options. The Warm Weather Package deletes the massage feature but adds unique leather-trimmed seating and front seats with heat and ventilation. For those wanting the ultimate performance, the S Sport Package includes a sport rear differential, an adaptive damping suspension, and red brake calipers. Nappa leather upholstery and dynamic steering are available as individual options.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Features
All S5 Sportbacks get forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control are found on the Premium Plus and Prestige, as well as on the base trim with the Premium Convenience Package added. Active lane assist and a surround-view monitor are also standard on the Premium Plus and Prestige, but the Prestige is the only trim that gets semi-autonomous parking assistance and traffic sign recognition. Some other standard safety equipment across the S5 Sportback range includes a multi-airbag occupant protection system, anti-lock brakes (ABS), vehicle stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 10.1-inch touchscreen is the infotainment hub for the S5 Sportback. It’s enhanced with a multi-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and access to Audi Connect Care (for emergency support and remote vehicle monitoring). SiriusXM satellite radio is standard on the two highest trims and included in the base trim’s optional Premium Convenience Package. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is standard in the Premium Plus and Prestige. The Prestige gets navigation and Audi Connect Plus (for a Wi-Fi hotspot, Amazon Alexa, and navigation enhancements); these features are available for the Premium Plus through the optional Navigation Package.
