2025 Audi A5

A sleek new liftback sedan that blends cutting-edge tech and refined luxury.

Audi’s redesign of the A5 has transformed the model from a traditional coupe into a liftback sedan that consolidates the discontinued A5 Sportback and A4 sedan. Built on Audi's new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, the redesigned A5 is larger in every dimension than its predecessor, with a 2.6-inch-longer wheelbase that translates into more interior and cargo space.

The new A5 adopts a five-door liftback design that blends sedan proportions with hatchback practicality. The rear decklid opens with the rear window, providing easier access to the cargo area compared to a traditional sedan trunk. Audi has also updated the A5's technology suite, introducing its Digital Stage dashboard layout with curved OLED displays and the latest version of its infotainment system. A more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with standard quattro all-wheel drive enables a 0-to-60 mph time of 5.6 seconds, representing an 0.8-second improvement over the previous generation.

Trims and Powertrain

The redesigned 2025 A5 is offered in the three traditional Audi trims: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. They have the same powertrain, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 268 horsepower – a 67-horsepower increase over the base engine in the outgoing A5 Sportback. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission controls the standard quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Cargo space ranges from 22.5 cubic feet behind the second row to 36.5 cubic feet behind the front row. The A5 carries an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 22 mpg city driving and 31 mpg on the highway.

Standard Features

The well-equipped Premium has leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power trunk lid, quad-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a power tilt-and-telescopic column, a dynamic suspension (a mechanical damping system to minimize body roll during spirited driving), LED cabin lighting, LED exterior lighting, and an 11.9-inch digital instrument display (the Audi Virtual Cockpit). On the exterior, look for dual exhaust outlets, full LED lighting, heated power side-view mirrors (power-folding and auto-dimming), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and all-season run-flat tires on 18-inch wheels. The optional Premium Convenience Package adds a heated steering wheel and a surround-view monitor. A panoramic fixed-glass sunroof is also available.

The Premium Plus adds the panoramic fixed glass sunroof and surround-view monitor along with a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, upgraded exterior lighting, and cabin interaction lighting. The Prestige builds on these upgrades with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, matrix-design LED headlights, digital LED taillights, sound-reducing side window glass, and rear-door sunshades.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

The A5’s standard array of advanced safety systems consists of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with emergency assist (lane keeping assist with automatic emergency braking), blind-spot monitoring, active front assist (pedestrian detection, oncoming collision prevention, cornering assist, and front cross-traffic assist), and automatic high beams. The Premium Plus adds adaptive cruise control. All three trims receive a set of airbags, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The A5’s infotainment system is built around Audi’s Digital Stage platform, with each trim getting a 14.5-inch touchscreen. The standard components are navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to Audi connected services and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Premium comes with a multi-speaker audio system, which is upgraded to a Bang & Olufsen arrangement in the other two trims. The Prestige also gets a 10.9-inch front passenger infotainment support touchscreen and Bang & Olufsen speakers embedded in the front headrests.
